BGM PRO CDI for IDM retrofit ignitions -original optics in connection with an optimized ignition curve for touring engines- THE PROBLEM OF ORIGINAL IDM CDI ON TOURING ENGINES All IDM-based ignitions (Vespatronic, Malossi VesPower, Polini IDM, Varitronic, Pinasco Flytech, Parmakit etc.) use the same CDI. Their ignition curve is designed for high-performance engines with late performance and high speeds. On touring engines, with an early and high torque, this ignition curve is rather counterproductive. It often leads to engine jerks in partial load operation due to an ignition point that is too early for the low speed. However, due to the large adjustment range (8 °) of the original CDI, the ignition point must be selected early. Otherwise, the performance in the upper speed range suffers, since the CDI already reduces the ignition point significantly here. ADVANTAGES OF THE BGM PRO CDI ON TOURING ENGINES The BGM PRO CDI has a modified, optimized ignition curve. It offers engines that have a similar power / torque curve as an original engine, ideal working conditions. The adjustment of the ignition point is significantly lower, the engine runs more quietly and smoothly and also develops more power, especially in the area above peak power (Overrev).
