Cracked! A pull rope can digest incredibly large loads. The tear limit of the trains we offer is several tons of pulling force. In a pinch you can even tow cars with it. Why a train breaks anyway depends on the fact that it is loaded incorrectly. Zugkiller No. 1 is the so-called common casting ridge. Often the brake-clutch levers are not properly deburred and the cable is chafed. Even in the steering head itself, where, for example, the outer clutch casing is supported, there can be a nasty point of friction. Only careful control can help here. All Bowden cables should always be oiled and greased before they are installed. This effectively prevents them from freezing in winter temperatures or the water entering the train and corroding the pull rope. Exceptions are the extremely low-friction complete PTFE cables that we offer and the original PX-Lusso cables. These may only be oiled with acid-free oil, eg Hanseline sewing machine oil.
