The main nozzle of the SI carburetor determines how much gasoline is made available for the so-called premix or pre-expansion. The larger the displacement and the higher the liter output, the greater the need for spraying, roughly speaking. The available palette ranges from 90-160. A 102 main jet has a bore of 1,02 mm, and thus provides less fuel than a 104 main jet (1,04 mm bore). In other words, the larger the number of the nozzle, the richer the mixture will be. Function of nozzle assembly SI The main nozzle should not be viewed in isolation as it is only responsible for keeping the fuel level in the nozzle assembly area at a sufficient level. The gasoline is sucked in from the nozzle assembly due to the negative pressure on the atomizer tube. The fuel that runs from below into the nozzle assembly is limited to a maximum by the main nozzle in the flow. Air is also drawn in from above, which means that a gasoline / air mixture is formed inside the carburetor (mixing tube). This premix allows the mixture to burn more effectively because it can be atomized more finely than pure gasoline. If the main air correction nozzle is dimensioned, the premix is too rich or too lean. For example, if the HLKD is very large (190), the premix contains a high proportion of air, which means that a disproportionately large main nozzle is required so that the engine runs properly even under full load.
